چکیده

Soil labile organic carbon (LOC) is a valuable and sensitive parameter of the changes in soil (C) pools further affects structural stability. However, influences soil-aggregate stability on LOC fractions under erosion conditions are still unclear, especially collapsing gully area south China. Soils five positions erosion, including upper catchment (UC), wall (CW), colluvial deposit (CD), scour channel (SC) alluvial fan (AF) from Acric Ferralsols were investigated sampled. aggregate measured analyzed. water-stable passive C (passive-C) contents significantly increased by 67–76% 8.7–13.0% at UC, CW, CD SC positions, respectively, while (labile-C) content was lower these as compared to AF position (p < 0.05). Moreover, UC position’s pool management index (CPMI) 37–40% CD, soils, indicating that had more stable due its stronger SOC, silt, amorphous iron oxide (Fea) contributed We demonstrated depletion could result decreases fractions, properties OC but not regulated thus affected structure across different subtropical region This study contributes developing strategies prevent improve global cycle quality, which be beneficial strengthen water conservation, fertility (e.g., SOC) vegetation recovery, such tea tobacco.

Aggregate and soil organic carbon dynamics in South Chilean Andisols

Extreme sensitivity of soil organic carbon (SOC) to climate and land use change warrants further research in different terrestrial ecosystems. The aim of this study was to investigate the link between aggregate and SOC dynamics in a chronosequence of three different land uses of a south Chilean Andisol: a second growth Nothofagus obliqua forest (SGFOR), a grassland (GRASS) and a Pinus radiata p...

Limits to soil carbon stability; Deep, ancient soil carbon decomposition stimulated by new labile organic inputs

Carbon (C) buried deep in soil (below 1 m) is often hundreds to thousands of years old, though the stability and sensitivity of this deep C to environmental change are not well understood. We examined the C dynamics in three soil horizons and their responses to changes in substrate availability in a coarsetextured sandy spodosol (0.0e0.1, 1.0e1.3, and 2.7e3.0 m deep). Substrate additions were i...

The Effect of Land use and Soil Erosion on Soil Organic Carbon and Nitrogen Stock

Soil organic carbon (SOC) is a principal component in soil quality assessment. Knowledge of SOC and total nitrogen (TN) stocks are important keys to understand the role of SOC in the global carbon cycle and, as a result, in the mitigation of global greenhouse effects. SOC and TN stocks are functions of the SOC concentration and the bulk density of the soil that are prone to changes, influe...

Determination of Soil Aggregate Stability in Different Types and Amounts of Organic Matter in Khuzestan Plain, Iran

In soils under wheat cultivation, soil aggregates stability is increased and destructive effects of erosion decreased, due to organic matters (OM) application. This trail was conducted in Shavoor agriculture research station to determine of mean weight diameter (MWD) under different organic matter sources and amounts in Khuzestan province (at south west of Iran) via a split plot experiment base...
